US Assistant Surgeon General Will Be Keynote Speaker at IPA Annual Convention

Rear Admiral Pamela Schweitzer, PharmD, and U.S. Assistant Surgeon General will be the keynote speaker at IPA’s Annual Convention and Expo on September 27th, 2018.
Dr. Schweitzer is the Chief Pharmacy Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from California State University Fullerton (CSUF) and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Pharmacy. Dr. Schweitzer completed an Ambulatory Care Residency at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. RADM Schweitzer is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She is in the Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) Program at the University of Southern California (USC).
RADM Schweitzer’s dedication to public service and profound leadership have had tremendous impacts on the world of pharmacy. IPA is very excited that Dr. Scweitzer will be joining us at our Annual Convention in Noblesville/Indy on September 27, 2018. Registration will open in early July.
RADM Schweitzer’s first assignment was with Indian Health Services at Pine Ridge Indian Hospital in South Dakota. She has served with the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in South Dakota, and her current assignment is with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Baltimore, Maryland. RADM Schweitzer has made an impact by leading numerous key technology projects at IHS and the VA including Pharmacy Billing, the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) program, e-prescribing, Prescription Drug Monitoring and Interconnect Pilot, and IHS Electronic Health Record Implementation.
RADM Schweitzer is the recipient of numerous awards for her leadership contributions, including the University of California San Francisco School of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumnus of the Year (2015), the ASHP William Zelmer Lecture Award (2016), the American Pharmacists Association Distinguished Federal Pharmacist Award (2014), the USPHS Mary Louise Anderson Leadership Award (2012), and IHS Senior Pharmacist of the Year Award (2013).
