According to the new Indiana House Bill 1317 that came into effect on July 1st, pharmacies and pharmacists will be allowed to provide information to patients about the different cost options of their prescriptions. Indiana lawmakers believe that this is an important step in helping hold down Hoosier's prescription drug costs. However, this law minimizes PBMs (pharmacy benefit managers) role in driving up drug costs. Lawmakers also say that more work is yet to be done to fully ensure low prescription drug costs for Hoosiers.
