Words Betsy Lives By: “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore
Betsy is a PharmD candidate at Purdue University with past clinical rotations at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis and Purdue University College of Pharmacy in West Lafayette. She was raised in Plainfield, Indiana and attended Plainfield High School. During her free time, Betsy loves laughing, watching basketball (especially the Boilers), and traveling. In December, Betsy travelled to four different states-California, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
Betsy chose pharmacy after her mom fell ill her senior year of high school. After interacting with her mother’s care team, which consisted of a very kind and knowledgeable pharmacist, Betsy was inspired to pursue the field of pharmacy. She feels extremely lucky to have chosen a field that allows her to impact the lives of others on a daily basis.
Betsy is hoping to pursue a PGY1 pharmacy residency outside of Indiana after graduating from Purdue in May. In the future, she plans on obtaining a PGY2 pharmacy residency in Oncology with the hopes of later becoming a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist. Betsy plans to focus her career in teaching and academia.
Betsy is currently on rotation with Randy Hitchens, the Executive Vice President of IPA. She is working diligently with her counterpart Lindsey on improvement projects to help make IPA one of the top state Pharmacy Associations. Her time here at IPA has shown her how important it is for pharmacist to build a deep network with a focus on Advancing our Profession Together.
