Meet IPA's June Rotation Student
By Nicholas C. Sethman on 7/2/2021
Hello there, my name is Nicholas Sethman, and I am a current fourth year in Purdue University’s PharmD program. I have lived my entire life here in the Indianapolis area and have been around the healthcare field since birth as every member of my family works in it. While in high school, I was aiming to be an engineer and was continuously a part of the school’s robotics team. However, during my second year with the team, my coach’s wife told me about her career in pharmacy and I began to learn more about the profession through conversations and internships in Health Information and Transitional Sciences. I found that pharmacy was a perfect blend of patient impact, flexibility, and transitional skills that I can apply as a father someday.
This month, I was given a great opportunity to work with my preceptor, Darren Covington, and Stacy Allgeier and learn more about the inner workings of IPA and other groups that advocate for the furthering of the pharmacy profession. Working with all the different academies and altering and updating the website were highlights during this rotation.
This winter, I will be planning on attending the 2021 Midyear Clinical Meeting to find a residency that allows me to hone my leadership skills and give my career a great start to have a broader patient impact. I hope to grow as a leader in the profession and facilitate the growth of a team to become the best healthcare practitioners they can be. I look forward to creating better employee and patient satisfaction in hospital systems across the nation and bring confidence in our healthcare workers near and far.
