Who should I call? Staff Responsibilities at The Alliance

Lawrence J. Sage is the Executive Vice President of the Indiana Pharmacists Alliance.  
Lary has been with the IPA since April of 1991. Lary is responsible for all the staff members of the IPA. His official job description states that the Executive Vice President is the chief operating officer of the Alliance and manages the day-to-day activities of the Alliance. The Executive Vice President provides the implementation for developing pharmacist leadership in the Alliance with the purpose of advancing pharmacy practice in Indiana. The Executive Vice President is the primary spokesperson representing pharmacy practice in Indiana.

Some activities he is involved in are developing and implementing strategic and other board approved plans and initiatives for Alliance, managing the office and supervising personnel, publishing quarterly journal and periodic newsletters, articulating IPA concerns and policies before the legislature, boards and other governmental entities, and other professional associations. He also serves as an officer of the Pharmacy Education Foundation and other IPA subsidiaries. He is also responsible for financial planning and forecasting, management of assets and fund raising and related activities. Lary represents the Alliance and Academies at meetings of national affiliated organizations.

Lary is the staff liaison for the Indiana Pharmacists Action Committee of the IPA. Any questions pertaining to legislation or governmental affairs should be directed to Lary’s attention.

Tabitha Cross is the Director of Professional Development.
Tabitha joined IPA in July of 2002. Tabitha received a Master of Science in Education from the IU School of Education with a concentration in Higher Education. She completed a B.S. degree in Public Health from the IU School of Public & Environmental Affairs in 1996.  In 2009, Tabitha earned the CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

Tabitha has overall responsibility for developing and assessing professional development opportunities for members of IPA through the development of continuing education programs in conjunction with the Education Council of the Alliance. Tabitha serves as the Administrator for all educational activities and is identified as such to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).  Among other duties, Tabitha also oversees the Alliance web site and serves as the Managing Editor for The Indiana Pharmacist (quarterly journal) and the ImPAct newsletter. Tabitha also develops membership recruitment and retention materials and programs for the Alliance.

Tabitha is staff liaison for Indiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ISHP), Indiana Society of Senior Care Pharmacists (ISSCP), Indiana Academy of Pharmacy Technicians (IAPT), and Community Pharmacies of Indiana (CPI).  Any questions about the activities of these groups can be directed to Tabitha.

Carol Dunham is Meeting Coordinator for the Alliance. Carol has been with the IPA since July of 1990.  Carol has overall responsibility, subject to direction from the Executive Vice President, for meeting planning and coordination. This includes preview, inspection and recommendation of potential sites for Alliance and affiliated organization’s meetings. Carol works with personnel at the selected site to develop plans for meetings, including menu planning and selection, scheduling of rooms, room setups, audio visual requirements and equipment, etc. She works with other Alliance staff to develop brochures and notices for marketing of meetings to pharmacists, technicians and other health care providers, and arranges distribution of brochures and meeting notices.

Developing and maintaining a database of possible sites and potential vendors and exhibitors is an ongoing task for Carol. If you encounter any drug company representatives who wish to present CE programs or to exhibit at our meetings, please direct them to contact her at the IPA office. Carol also serves as the staff person assigned to the Education Council, whose primary duty is to plan the Annual Meeting of the Alliance and other meetings as needed. She also assists the ACPE Administrator in assuring compliance with ACPE guidelines for presenting CE programs.

Carol is staff liaison for the Pharmacists Recovery Network (PRN) and the Indiana Academy of Community Pharmacists (IACP). Any questions about the activities of these groups can be directed to Carol.
